The fruits, flowers and tops of the squash are used as vegetables. The flowers which are the squash blossoms are mildly sweet. The center of the blossom is the stamen which is the male reproductive organ of the plant and is the pollen producing part. Bees tend to hover on the stamen. Beware to those who have pollen sensitivities. Use it for desensitization only under the supervision of a health professional. The bright yellow flowers indicate benefits for the eyes and skin. The entire flower is rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B, calcium and phosphorous, to name just a few. Beyond its chemical properties, edible flowers such as squash blossoms nourish our emotions, our thoughts, our spirits and our behaviors. Ask the questions, “ How do I feel when flowers I receive flowers? “ “Why do I give flowers to someone? Living? Departed? What does a flower bring to me? Wouldn’t I want to be beautiful inside and out?”
